WELCOME to the IFLA Section of Art Libraries International Directory of Art Libraries. This Directory is provided as a means to access nearly 3,000 libraries and library departments with specialized holdings in art, architecture, and archaeology throughout the world. Data recorded for each institution includes address, telephone and tele-facsimile numbers, hours of operation, annual closings, and listings of professional personnel. It also includes electronic mail addresses of individual librarians and direct web links to institutional home pages.

The International Directory of Art Libraries is the product of a survey undertaken for the Section by the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) and is administered on facilities provided by the Vassar College Art Library. Data collection is accomplished through an international committee of Regional Coordinators.

Also instrumental in the development of this resource were the following national and international library and art library professional organizations: the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Kunst- und Museumsbibliotheken (AKMB), the Art Libraries Society of Australia & New Zealand (ARLIS/ANZ), the Art Libraries Society / Norden (ARLIS Norden), the Art Libraries Society of the United Kingdom & Eire (ARLIS/UK), the Association des Bibliothécaires Français (ABF), and the Overleg Kunsthistorische Bibliotheken Nederland - Art Libraries Society / The Netherlands (OBKN - ARLIS/NL).
